Hey just got a quote from a glass company for a fish tank and they wanted to know if I needed it tempered or not.
Or will having the glass thick enough be enough.
Thanks for the help.

Tempered glass is stronger than untempered glass, but you can't drill it. The only tempered glass I've seen in an aquarium is the bottom pane, and not every aquarium has this. I'd go with the untempered glass.

If you want to drill the back or sides get the bottom tempered but if you want the bottom drilled just skip tempered all together..its a nice luxury to have for the bottom pane but by no means necessary.

Ok that's good advice guys thanks alot. I think I will be getting the bottom drilled so I'm gonna skip the tempered part plus to get it tempered is alot of money here in ireland.
Again tanks for the advice.
