I bought a couple small terra cotta pots for my bolivian ram. Is there anything I should do before I put them in the tank besides clean them? Should I soak them in some dechlorinated water? Anything special I should do?

no, rinse and put in...assuming their made of non toxic clay

i made a cave for my clawed frog in sculpture and ceramics, then glazed, hasnt killed my frog yet...

haha...sorry, that just made me laugh

Ok, I bought it from the craft store...so I hope its not toxic. I assume most people get theirs from craft stores. Its not shiny, so I'm not sure if its glazed or not. Does that make a difference? Or could they be glazed but not shiny. I'm guessing that's usually what people do when they make clay stuff.

Ok I'll just rinse them and put them in the tank...thanks for your help!

terra cotta clay shouldn't be toxic at all. some glazes can be, so an unglazed pot is actually a better choice.
