I've had a zooanthid frag in my tank for about three months. It hasn't spread at all, due to the fact, I'm sure, that my tank is still maturing and that the frag keeps getting knocked around by my snails.
This morning, I noticed two small polyps -- identical to those on the frag -- on other rocks in the tank, at least a foot from where the the frag has always been. These rocks were dead coral base rock when I put them in the tank, so nothing hitchhiked in on them.
So how did these polyps get over there? Assuming they somehow dislodged from the frag and floated/were carried over, will they be able to reattach and thrive?
