I have been planning to put some new hiding places in my aquarium setup. I am not sure all plastics are safe to use over a period of time in an aquarium. I have tried to do a little research on this matter.

As far as I can tell :? the following plastics are considered safe:
1, 2, 4, 5

Does anyone have other information about this?

Also, are clay planting pots safe in aquaria?[/code]

Clay pots are safe in the aquarium (I have used them before). I have never used plastic pots, but I try to avoid anything thats plastic.

Clay pots are safe. Some that have been painted are not, so I wouldn't get into painted pots. Just make sure that the edges are smooth. One of my eels got scrapes down his sides from an edge that wasn't perfectly smooth.

NOT all clay pots are safe! Purchase only clay pots from a aquarium supply store. Avoid cheap clay pots found at home stores and craft stores. I know many have had luck with such clay pots, but I have not and lost some beautiful fish. Better to be safe than sorry.
