Thoughts on a Filter System

Good Morning,

I am new at this and have been thinking about fish waste on the bottom of the tank as well. I remember back in the day my parents had under gravel system. My thoughts are on the same line, kind of an under gravel system on steroids here are my thoughts (Yes Please Comment) what if I took the under gravel system and hooked it up to a canister filter? Is this over kill? Would/Will this cause more problems than I want it to fix?

Hey Mike, I'm running a somewhat similar system in a shrimp tank right now. Undergravel is PVC pipe and system is set-up as a reverse undergravel filter. This prevents the debris from settling into the gravel bed. Since I am running ADA soil on this tank that seemed like a more viable option than a standard UGF.
