Hello,

Wondering if anyone here has any advice. I’m thinking about buying a poly stock tank to put some fish in. The oval 30 gallon from these guys here…

http://www.tufftubs.com/htdocs/plinoval.htm

They advertise as 100% LDPE - low density polyethylene. Other places on the on the internet says that LDPE is safe for fish, as it is used in food applications ( plastic recycle number 4, I believe).

This product, however, doesn’t have a recycle number on the bottom. Should I not trust this tub because there is no recycle number?

Thanks!

I would email the company and get some thoughts from them. That said lots of people keep these and Rubbermaid and stock water tanks for fish. Being it is in the sunlight, I would want them to be as safe as possible though. Livestock would have to drink out of them.
