After my post the other evening about the use of a UGF I have Found out that my biggest problem is that I have never properly cleaned the UGF. My waters chemistry is in constant flux. As there is extensive aquascaping in the 50 gal FO I am considering replacing the UGF with live sand or a another type substraight.
My question would be can the crushed coral currently being used be swapped for another sub-straight without doing major amounts of damaged to the entire system?
I have recieved several ideas on how to do this swap. Any additional ideas on how to go about this swap would be greatly appreciated.
