Hi all,

I've not long started my tank (about 6 months) and have 3 mollies, 1 X silverfin Molly, 4 guppies, 3 endler guppies and have found 7 new fry in my tank!
I wasn't expecting to have any fish in there to breed, as I purposely bought male guppies only and only female mollies.

Can you help identify what fry these are?
I've included a tank picture for any reference info

If the only females in the tank are mollys, then they must be mollys. They must have already been pregnant when you bought them. The only other way it could have happened was if some fry got scooped up in the bag of fish when you bought them.

Mollys can store sperm for upto a year, so dont be surprised if you get more babies down the line. And also if there is a M/F mix in the babies, those babies will also breed if they arent seperated.

If you dont want babies, the only surefire way to ensure this is to buy only males. With livebearers there is always a risk you are buying already pregnant fish.

Edit: Or obviously, some fish that you are presuming are male are actually female or vice versa.
