Can vinegar be used to remove calcium/lime buildup (not really sure what it is) and hard water stains? My hood has gotten pretty nasty over the years and since I have a few weeks off i decided to clean it. How long should I let it soak for?

Yes, vinegar is pretty acidic and should help to break down calcium/lime buildup.
You should see the vinegar start to dissolve the buildup fairly quickly, I'd let it soak for 1/2 hour then give it a try.

Ok thanks. I just poured it on a few minutes ago so I'll let it sit for a little while longer.
