Earlier I went to a LFS a was looking around when I came up to a "salesmen" trying to sell a Blue hippo tang to someone with little experience, a brand new tank (3 weeks old) and the size 29 gal (I found this out later out in the parking lot). I listened while this guy told him this fish will be an outstanding addition to his tank and he will have no troubles. Then he went over to the Mandarin and wanted to take this too... Well, after the saleman was finished I steped in and said excuse me,I just wanted to say if you buy both of those fish you will be sending one to a slow death (the Mandarin) and the other may not survive very long eighter,if it does you will need to buy a tank 5 times larger than you have now. Well when I finished the store manager escorted me to the door and asked me NOT to come to his store again... Well believe me its no great loss... Anyway the guy doing the buying followed me out and started asking me questions... We talked a little while and he said I must have been doing this for a while. I said no not really just since September I said... The key is to read, read and read some more. I said if your daughter really wants a Nemo tank you can get some of them like the Clown , a cleaner shrimp and maybe a royal gramma because it looks like one of them but wait until your tank cycles, The next thing out of his mouth was whats that? cycle? cycle where. I asked him if he had a computer and if he did to go home and start reading. And stop at the nearest book store and get the book The Conscientious marine aquarist. its loaded with info I know I bought it too. He shook my hand and thanked me for saving his money and left.

Darn now I have to drive further for my salt...

I see you're in PA . . . where exactly and what LFS were you in? I've had a similar situation at a LFS neary me in Philly.

You should give us the addy to the store and we can all bombared the store on how *beep* advice they are giving and wont ever be shopping there. Is it a chain store or privatly owned?

well, at least you stood up for whats right and said something...

its sad and frustrating when someone you feel you can trust...LFS guy...takes you for your money and your time. What a waste...

keep fighting the good fight.

Glad you did what is right. Salt is probably cheaper from liveaquaria than LFS anyways since they did away with the extra weight shipping fees.

Congratulations on how you dealt with the situation you were put in.

Thanks everyone, Well I been talking to another LFS who knows the people that own this store (privately owned), And apparently they ran into some trouble with the state and are no longer able to sell any four legged animals... hmm, now there going to sell fish and birds only...Im finished with this store.

I'm right next door to you in Nanticoke. 8) So I assume your talking about Pet City in the Edwardsville Plaza? If so, I've been there once and that was enough for me.

Try The Pet Zone in Pittston. Bill is a good guy and he can pretty much get you whatever you want. Also if you don't mind taking about an hour drive, head down the turnpike and check out Something Fishy (www.toofishy.com) in Northampton. Awesome coral selection and nice fish selection.

Im up talking to Bill once a week, He's reliable and he tells me what not to put in my tank. Although my only two complaint's are he is almost always sold out of fish and he is a little steep on his salt prices but like I said Im there once a week. how far down the pike is Northamton?

Did you happen to mention AA to the customer at the store?

sorry, but no I wasnt even thinking about AA, I just wanted to save that person some money and heartache so he wouldnt end up giving up on saltwater. Im sure I'll run in to him again, we dont have many LFS that have marine fish.

You take the Lehighton exit, the exit before the tunnel, off the turnpike and Something Fishy in Northampton is about 15 mins from there.

You got that right.
