You shouldn't need to lower the water. They can crawl up on the lid and lay them there too. But, it depends on how much room your tank has I guess! The eggs need to be moist from humidity, but not actually get wet. Hopefully you will get some tiny snail babies! Sometimes they will lay infertile eggs, but since you have actually seen them mate, these eggs should be ok hopefully.
