Hi everyone
I'm a complete newbie to aquatic plants and this maybe a a silly question but I've had these three plants I believe to be egeria densa's in the tank for a week now and they have seem to have started growing these root type growths out of some of their stems. Can anybody tell me what they are and why? Like I said I'm a complete newbie so thanks for your help :)

Stem plants will often grow roots like this as the plant develops. They are harmless, but there isn't much you can do to discourage it. If they are too unsightly, you can trim them off with no effect to the plant.

Just a suggestion but if you could replant each individual stem so they almost touch but not quite they will get better light and water circulation and you will also have a much bigger stand of them.

Agreed - and it seems like sometimes that can help the stems produce less roots as well, though not always.
