You have to keep in mind that even the comment on the pic says "The ONLY known case of a hybrid...." That means that for the over 100+ years this fish has been kept in aquariums, a hybridization has happened ONCE. No wonder it's not a commonly known occurance.
As for hybrids being sterile, this is both true and not true. Some are and some aren't. You take your chances when creating hybrids that you can continue the line. Genetically speaking however, the fish is going to have stronger traits if not hybridized.
