It's a brittle star fish! This one is at the fish store that I work at and it's huge!

The one in your hand is a brittle star and that is about as big as it will get...the type you have are tucked away in holes and cracks of live rock and is a good part of CUC. Normally you won't see but a leg or 2 sticking out of rock during daylight but look in tank after lights out and you'll see a lot more.

They do get big though.
Some types do get big, you're right. Other types stay quite small.

Agreed that there are brittle stars that get big but I was referring only to the one in the picture as that type will not get much bigger.
