I have 2 percula clownfish, an emerald crab, a red starfish, some astrea snails and 2 featherdusters. What should the pH be at? Mine is 8.1. I thought that was on the low side. What is the safe range for pH or is it kind of the same with most freshwater... high or low pH isn't as important as it being stable?

Here's a good chart...

Just remember that pH will change during the day. It will be its lowest just as your light turn on in the morning and at its highest just after your lights turn out at night. When testing, just be sure to test at a consistent time, all the time. You're correct... within the "good" range, consistent is more important that a certain number.

There is nothing wrong with 8.1. Keep it stable at that PH and you`ll be good to go. As Scott said stability is the key.
