I posted this about 1 1/2 months ago in the sick fish and coral section and no one could identify this stuff. I have had some fish die and think it may be because of this stuff but im not really shure. The stuff seems to grow relatively quickly. It is white/clear and is soft and flexible. the whole piece of rock has it on it now. If anyone can identify this and tell me what it is I would appreciate it. Thanks again

It sounds like some sort of mold to me. I recall that when I first started my tank years and years ago, I threw a bunch of LR in a new tank. The tank immediately began to cycle as there was a quite a bit of dead stuff on the LR. At one point in the cycle, my LR was covered in a white layer that looked very similar to what you have there.

I could blow it away with a turkey baster, but it would return. It thrived for a while, but as the tank matured it disappeared.
