Hello. I'm new here. I got into fish when me and my girlfriends relationship went stale. Upon breaking up, I got even more into it, but my fish tank is starting to get boring. I only have a 10 gallon tank, but I want to add more to it.
I have 6 fish total in it.
I set up the fish tank October 11, 2012 when I got it for my birthday. I only have 2 of the original fish. All others died when I moved the tank.
One of the remaining fish is a Yellow Platy. He has survived pure cold tap water. His friend which was a red platy (they swam together so I got the 2 because my gf said to because they were cute because they were always together like us. Turns out her favorite died. lol.
I have 2 Guppys. One is a male with the orange tail. I also have a much younger Guppy. It was a baby when I got it because the store accidentally put it in with my Platy. They asked if I wanted to keep it in the bag, and I was like "it make end up as a nice snack for him). Anyways, it survived, and it's grown fast in the past 2 and a half months. It's the size of the male guppy, so I'm thinking it may be a female. It is has an orange shading, but isn't anything like the male. But it's also possible it's a male who isn't fully grown/developed.
A week after getting the original fish and most died, I bought 4 Zebra Danio's (3 in the form of Glowfish). All died in the move. A few weeks ago (Nov 18, 2012) I got another Zebra Danio cause I like the fish. Ever since buying it, the tummy area has gotten bigger. Could be pregnant, could be fat. I don't really know. lol.
I acquired a Blue Platy from a friend. It has the micky mouse tail.
There are others I've had but left out since they're not a big deal.
My most recent addition was a Plecostomus because of algae. I know these fish should be in tanks of greater size, but if it starts to get too big, I have a friend who can take it for me. It's currently about 1.5" to 2" long.
My question is, what other kind of fish and how many can I put in with these? Would a Betta be an okay choice?
