What substrate should I use?

I am going to do a Iwagum 30g tank and I am unsure what to use for my substrate. main carpet will be HC Cuba what are some ideas for quality substrate? I am thinking of using ADA however the price has me really turned off from it. Anything in a better price range that is quality stuff?

A couple of members here have used brightwell substrate with good results. Eco complete is also popular and at one point offered a fine grain size. I have fluorite and it not to good for small plants. Imo the grain size it too big and course.
