I'm starting my first Salt Water aquarium and put in some live rock a few days ago. Today I noticed this. What is it? Is the coral coming back to life?

Is it the red like spiked growths ?
I have the same thing .
Not really worried about them . But I am curious .
I assumed it was some kind of calcified growth or coralline

I just learned something. They throw out long stringy filament things, yes?

No those are vermetid snails. Foramineferans are tiny animals that build structures like you see in that pic.
