Whats wrong with my FBN??

I don't know what to do my newt is not eating much and has a big wound on his tail. Looks like an infected wound, he had a cut when I bought him last week and it's getting bigger.

Is there anything besides pristine water conditions that would help? Should I quarantine him? Will my other newts become infected (in case its a fungus or something) I'm worried if I quarantine him he will be even more stressed

thats a bacterial infection in the cut. Lots of water changes and scaleless safe fish medications. Use a fungicide since his immune system is stresed and a bacterial medicine to handle the infection. Do a lot of water changes and good luck.

Thanks but he passed away. Lost his tail and I guess the infection overcame him.
