My tank has a trickle filter with carbon sponge, ceramic noodles and black sponge. It's been set up since 21st sept, doing a fish in cycle with 5 pearl danios.

I have a lot of tiny particles of debris in the water, water changes don't make any difference to them and they're really annoying so I've been looking at reasons for it.

I set up my filter as instructed here - http://www.aquaone.co.uk/documents/850980lowres30px.pdf

but while I've been looking for a solution I found this -
http://www.petland.com.au/prod157.htm

and now I'm confused, I don't know if the white sponge bit in the 2nd link refers to the white side of the carbon cartridge and it also has the cartridge and carbon the other way round to the instruction book.

Am I missing a sponge? Should I buy another sponge to help with the filtration? And should I change my media round to what the 2nd link says or stick with the instruction book?

You need some filter wool/floss it's pretty good at that and fairly cheap but needs replacing every time you clean the filter, I get a big sheet on eBay and cut it to size myself.

Yea just cut it to size and sit it on top of every section and that should fix your problem :)

All of that stuff disappeared when I removed all my decor yesterday and gravel vacced all the mulm and gunk up.

I didn't think I should gravel vac while in cycle?
