I have some sort of white gunk on the heater in my discus tank. It is located right above the suction cup holder, is white and gummy feeling. I have been keeping the temperature elevated (90 degrees) and just finished treating with hex a mit. Has anybody seen anything like this? Is it possibly medicine coagulating on the heater? I would take a picture but my battery is dead.

If you haven't done so already, disconnect the heater and give the gunk a good clean until it's all clear. Its probably just a build up of general fish & tank waste and has caught itself on the suction cup.
If the heater is working fine, it won't be that.

if you have hard water you will get a build up . know this due to fixing hot water heaters that get that

It's usaually various mineral deposits from your water. disconnect, clean with a vinegar solution, rinse very well, and you should be good to go.
