I have a new 55g tank. Set it up in January with bio-complete carbon gravel, a bunch of plants, and decor. added a few fish (3 angelfish though2 died within the week and 2 elephant nose) in February, added a bristlenose 3 days ago after allowing algae to grow. It's maybe 3-4" long. I didn't notice any spots on it when I bought it and today is the first day it's come out of hiding. I know it's been eating because the tank is much cleaner. Tonight when I was watching it clean, I noticed white patches on either side of its face. an angelfish was hovering around it and was nibbling at the white patches. Are these supposed to be there? They seem to be retractable? S/he sticks them out further if the angelfish gets closer to it.

Some kind of fungus? I’m not sure. Is it getting better/worse since you posted?
