What species of fish are they? What are the water parameters (ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, PH, temp)? Is the tank cycled? What other fish are in there if any? Did you just get them today?

If it's just a fungus or bacteria (probably), it's not contagious and you don't need to treat the whole tank. Bacteria are always around, they just happen to infect fish who are hurt/stressed/weak. I treated a cottony growth on my fish with Pima-fix; it worked really well and didn't stain...

It sounds like cotton-mouth/mouth fungus, which is caused by columnaris bacteria. Since the bacteria is opportunistic, it could have infected a lesion your fish got from fighting. Pima-fix worked really well for me when my fish had a cottony growth, the bottle says it treats mouth fungus, it's...
