But you were the one who brought up the conversation about chichlids..?

Seems to me that the answer is pretty much clear. A community tank usually has
Tetras
Corys
Rams
Angels
Plecos.

Since angels and rams are chichlids, you dont HAVE many options for a community tank.
Sounds pretty. How many of each type? I hope you know I only have a 55 gallon tank. By cichlids I meant no Africans or the like. Rams and Angels are very pretty though!:fish1:

Keeping an aquarium doesn't have to be expensive. A quality filter doesn't have to be expensive, it doesn't have to be a cannister, it just has to do the job. Each type has it's advantages and disadvantages. There is no way to avoid water changes, so you are better to spend the time finding a way that is easy for you. If water changing is too much of a chore it will tend to be neglected.
As for fish, lots of suggestions have been made, many of which will allow for a tank with less maintenance.

I'd to

2 angels
2 groups of 8 larger tetras
1 pair of rams
1 pleco

How about this?

2 Angelfish
8 Skirt Tetras
8 Red Minor Tetras
1 pair of German Blue Rams
1 Common Plecostamus
With this many fish, I have to do a 50% water change weekly right?
By "two groups" you meant two different species of tetras right?

That sounds good except the common pleco he will get way too big
& plecos have a big bio load
You can try different bottom dwellers like cories, ottos
Or you can do like 2 bnp

Agreed. No common pleco, but definitly a different type.

Yea i meant 2 different species, or just one group of the same if youd like that better

Agreed x2 , bristlenose plec, active and hardy and great workers on the algae

Be aware with rams they can be very sensitive if you get poor quality specimens, they need pristine water.I agree with what was said above about water changes- get a python or something like it to help do water changes, saves the back and time of lugging buckets around.

I am going to add in here that I personally would not keep red minors with angels or rams. They can be pretty nippy, especially with the long, tempting angel fins. I wouldn't keep skirt tetras with angels either for the same reason, but some people have good luck with skirt tetras not being nippy when kept in a decently sized school.
If you like the look of the red minors, I suggest rosy tetras, bleeding hearts, bentosi tetras or somehting similar like that. :)

Why me... every single idea I have is bad. Ok, YOU suggest what I should get!

Lol just reread your thread, and write down every fish. Then cross the ones off for various reasons.

When/IF there are none crosed off, post it and we will see!!!

Ok, I want...

12 Black Neon Tetras
2 Gouramis (Gold and Blue colored)
6 Albino and/or Green Cories
6 MALE mollies

Is this ok? Any other fish I could add?

IMO start with this plan, let the fish to get use to the tank for three weeks, and then you can observe and decide on which level (low, medium, top) would you like to add more fish.

Ok, if the tank is newly cycled, which fish could be added first?

Ok good we have a list!! I'd go for the mollys or neons first
