Lava Rock? Pro ans Con

Well I might get a lava rock for my 55 and want to pu a plant in the hole it has in th middle. But was wondering would it work with plants?

Yes it would work but lava rock is sharp and if fish scrap it they can get cut
 
Yeah! My java ferns, moss, and Anubis love to attach to it more than any other type of rock/driftwood that I have!

Just be careful because like a Pp said, it is sharp and if a fish gets too close it can injure them. I've not had that problem in the years I've used it, but I figure it's bound to happen eventually with someone. Just hope it's not too severe when it does.
 
I've been looking at other posts and see its red lava rock.. Mines white? What dose that mean?

This is my peice, my baby fish and kuhli loaches love it!!! That is a nice peice btw.
