They're $3 each in my neck of the woods. You can safely put 9 of them in your tank.

Jeeez there so expensive here that's crazy, I wonder why they charge so much here. Awesome ill get 9 :) they are funny little things sitting together on the driftwood and leaves and they seem like tighter schoolers than the larger corys. So far my Betta hasn't taken an interest in them.

I've got kind of the same situation. I moved my baby female betta to my 55 gal community tank because I needed her home for a quarantene tank. It's only 5 gal. She's holding her own in the big tank but I don't want to stress her out. I ended up not needing her little 5 gal. I'm thinking of moving her back but would like to put something in there to keep her company. Any suggestions?

Here's some updated pics of tank today and a few of Drac :) Still haven't upped my school of Pygmy corys but will next pay. I'm also thinking another piece of driftwood would be nice with some Java fern windelov attached and a larger rock with an Anubias to attach onto it.

What's everyone's opinion on maybe changing this tank to either pool filter sand or play sand ? It was just a thought and wanted to get some opinions on whether I should stick with how it is or make the switch?

Think your tank is nice the way it is, but if you want to change it to sand go for it. I have just changed my 50 gallon over a couple of weeks ago and was unsure I, d like it but it looks a whole lot better. The same with my bettas tank my cories love it and so does my betta lol

I think I might change it to sand since I have the pygmy corys in there as well. What would be best pfs or play sand ? The white might show off my bettas colouring and the pygmys more.

White sometimes causes fish's colors to "pale" out. At least my Cories show more color on Black sand IME.

I used silica sand all i could get at my lfs it's a tan color does ok with my bettas tank. In my big tank it's the opposite my bristle looks washed out too. It's up to you I haven't used the other ones so I can't comment on them :)

Hmmm I'm not sure what I should choose now. I just thought that the pfs or play sand would be a nice change from the black aqua soil in my 41g. I don't want my fish to look duller though because of a lighter substrate

My betta looks fine in my tank his color isn't washed out, i like the sand it makes my tank look brighter. It's up to you skyla but i like mine a lot better now :)

I haven't seen any black aquarium sand here and I've asked. I did look into the blasting sand but it contains particles that can be too sharp for bottom dwellers like corys. I really don't have the money to buy anything expensive that's why I was thinking pfs or play sand. But I'll only replace the gravel I'm using if its going to look better with the lighter sand I'm just not sure yet.

I like my sands color its totally brightened up my tanks, it actually looks really good in my bettas tank :)
