First plants!

Well guys...just added 2 bundles of anacharis and one bundle of hornwort to my 29g tank. The tank has a UGF otherwise I would have got some heavier rooted broadleaf plants. My 65w CF light gets here tomorrow

I left a plastic broadleaf plant in there, because I'm still looking for a broadleaf type plant that doesn't have such heavy rooting. What would you suggest? Maybe some java fern?

You can tie any type of Anubias to anything.. It doesn't have a large root system, and some can get quite tall (frazeri and coffeefolia come to mind)

My 65 watt CF got here today so that is sitting over the tank right now, and I added a brazilian sword and 2 small patches of some sort of val to the tank. Pics coming soon.

How long should I wait to gravel vac after placing the plants?

You can gravel vac as soon as you want to, just make sure to avoid where the plants are at.

Also you should be aware that the Columbian Ramshorn Snails (the large striped snails) are plant eaters and should be found a new home if you want to continue keeping plants in this tank.

I know that they are ramshorn snails, but how do you know they are of the columbian variety?

I started with 5 a while back, then my angel decided to munch on 3 of them, so I have 2 left. I've watched them and they don't seem to be going anywhere near the plants.
