Hello,

well after the massacre (Ich) I experienced in the last few days I'm now thinking about restocking my 30G freshwater tank. I'll be waiting a few weeks (continuing with higher temps, salt, etc...) to ensure that the Ich is all gone and will be getting a QT tank, but I want to start thinking about options.

Currently remaining in the tank are 3 kuhli loaches, 1 yellow algae eater and a dwarf frog. I have a 90G cichlid (African - Malawi/Tang mix) tank on the go already and REALLY enjoy them a lot. Something in the same vein would be really interesting to me.

So, my question is, with the fish that I have remaining what kind of options do I have for restocking?

Thanks for any info/advice!
Jef

Sorry, I re-read my post and just to clarify, I'll be restocking a 30 gallon freshwater tank that has already been cycled and has a few pre-existing inhabitants.

well in the current tank you have the fish prefer cooler water, you might consider choosing some new guys that also like temperatures around 78. What temp did you maintain this tank at before the Ich?

Very nice then...in that case...some of my fav cool/cold water choices are a number of different barbs (I really like rosy barbs, but they can grow to ~6 in/15cm), bloodfin tetras, croaking tetras, pearl danios :)D as they need not necessarily be kept in schools if your don't prefer it), zebra danios (not my fav), white cloud minnows, and if you can find them....wimples (very interesting to watch).

Wimple (Myxocyprinus asiaticus)

Also despite general impression, guppies are cool water fish. As adults they prefer cooler water. So, if you don't plan to breed them, selecting male guppies is a good option for colour and dynamics. They get along well with other fish and are quite interesting to watch. As long as no female are present they get along quite well and are great community fish.

All in all, you have some good options since you tank is 30g. You can really create a great community should you wish. Keep us posted on what you decide.

I just got some endlers guppies (male) and they are HILARIOUS! They dart all over, play in the sand and bubbles. I love them!
