So i talked to my local pet store and they said the best thing to do is put my old filter and decorations in the new tank for a few days and then use my API test and make sure ammo is at 0 and nitrate at 0... I read the article thanks... I will wait before i throw my fish in there. Dont want my beautys dieing :(

Actually, you want to make sure the ammo is 0, the nitrites are 0 and the nitrAtes are less than 20. That's when it's cycled. They'll be all over the place as you cycle.

Adding water from your other tank couldn't hurt. Filter media and some gravel from an established tank will do wonders.

You need to do more than just put the old filter media and decorations you need to add a source of ammonia until you have a stable bacteria colony.

Very nice!!!

Nice set up, I got the same filter on my 56 gal, it use to be on my 110gal but i down sized. I also use the same air pumps, Rena's on both my 29gal and 56gal. The fiter is a work horse and the air pump is completly silent. You won't be displeased. Can't wait to see the whole set up you'll have fun, post pics soon

I forgot to mention, i didn't bother with ammo or charcol, just loaded it up with bio media, works great.

Just bio media???... I hurd charcoal is good for getting rid of EVERYTHING... Even the smell... Does it keep your tank crystal clear even with just the media?

The DW is just amazing, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't jealous. A dark blue background would look fab.

I've never seen spiny eels, can u post a pic?
