Here's my water tests from yesterday:
Temp 24
PH 7.6
KH 10.4
Ca 450
Mg 1400
N03 2-4
P04 0.08
As you can see the 25 litre water change has corrected my calcium and magnesium balance! KH is still a little on the high side for my liking
So here's this weeks plan of action:
I'm not dosing any supplements so no KH, Mg & Ca I'm also not dosing No-pox to see if the nitrates will strip my KH out??? Yes my nitrates will rise however there's only two clowns in there plus corals and inverts! The softies like some nitrates though! So with keeping a close eye on it I should be fine! I've been reading very minimal these last few weeks so I really don't envisage too much of a problem, I'm going to retest everything on Thursday and hopefully by then my KH will of dropped increasing my PH and then I can buffer my levels back up correctly (KH, Mg & Ca)
Well until then guys
Oh new polyp frag as well today!!!!

Right guys heres the update from this weeks water tests:

28/04/12
Temp:24
PH:8.0
KH: 8.4
Ca: 430
Mg: 1400
N03: 2-4
P04: 0.08

I have just now checked to see if my buffer has worked on Ca and found that Mg is a little low so ive just buffered that to hopefully pull it back into sync with Ca

Todays results are:
KH 8.4
Ca: 460
Mg:1320

Right so heres the plan after not dosing last week i was able to work out how much of each element was used by my tank and therefore hopefully allowing me to accurately dose my tank daily so after much number crunching this is what i came up with

Tank Usage per day:
KH: 0.35ppm
Mg: 20ppm
Ca: 2.5ppm

Daily dosings
KH: 0.5ml Red Sea Coralline gro
Mg: 4ml Red Sea Reef foundation C
Ca: 1.5ml Red Sea Reef Foundation A
Im also lowering the dose of my Nopox to .5ml per day and ive increased my dosing to 2ml of Red Sea reef energy A&B

I have also started to culture my own Copepods and Rotifers i found this nifty drinks container with a tap on the bottom, ive drilled a hole in the bottle lid which has enabled me to fit an airline into it! im going to leave them for two weeks and will let you know whether its worked or not! im feeding the culture Seachem Reef Phyto Plankton once a week and Protogen granules every other day.

Right i think thats just about it for now, will update when necessary, if you want to know how i managed to work out my daily dosings and usage im more than happy to explain them further.....

Until next time guys

Hiya Guys,

Heres this weeks water tests for you:

Temp 24
SG: 1.027/8
PH: 8.0
KH: 8.4
Ca: 470
Mg: 1400
N03: 4
P04: 0.08

Right ive kind of given up on the daily doses and just gone for a buffer when and where needed which really seems the best thing for managing the tank at the moment, once the tank has fully settled down i shall then reconsider using a daily dose! ive also had a Cyno outbreak again which is probably down to starting up with the Nopox again, im now trying another option instead of nopox, ive removed the carbon bag from one of my chambers and replaced with Zeo, im also feeding the tank with 1ml of Brightwell Aqutics Microbacter 7, this is going to be adding the good bacterias to my tank after two weeks of using the microbacter i will then think about starting the nopox again!, my Copepod culture is also doing very well and next week i will be looking at transfering a litre of water from the culture into the main tank once every couple of days??? if anyone has any suggestions then please feel free to message me???

Cool that's not bad! I've ordered a pair of candy pipe fish from my LFS so once my copepod cultures up to speed I will able to put them in my tank! All that's left then is the mandarin!!! Although I'm still debating whether to stop at just the 4 fish???

Ive veen told 2 small fish max but i think ima stop at 4 the last being a yellow watchman goby???

Well the pair of candy pipes will be fine in my tank there the smaller of the pipes getting to only a few inches long! I was told 4 small fish would be max too! The watchman gobys are great I even debated one there great for turning the sand over in the tank!

Ok guys here's today's tests for you:

Temp 24
SG 1.028
Ph 7.6
KH 8.9
Ca 530
Mg 1360

So my Ca and Mg are out of balance! :0( so I've done a 25 Litre water change today to pull some of it back into line??? I will water test tomorrow and then buffer the Mg to match the Ca (1:3) tomorrow evening!!! So hopefully a nice easy fix! I'm still dosing 1ml of microbacter and 1ml of reef energy A&B I can also report my Tunze streamer is working a right treat in my tank and all my corals seem to be back up to speed with there new increased flow! Coral and Marlin my two clowns have also decided to host my large Xenia :0) they do however look a little lost at night once the Xenia closes up!!!
I can also announce another success my copepod culture has worked so I removed about 500ml of water from there replacing with my tank water, I will transfer water between the two every 3-4 days???
Will keep you posted with tomorrows test results.
Here's this weeks tank picture and one of Marlin in the Xenia
