As far as cramming alot of danios in a small tank, its normal protocol for LFS to do this. Most use a regular water change routine or a centralized filtration system so water quality doesn't suffer, and keeping fish heavily stocked also reduces aggression issues. Stunting isn't as much of an issue with smaller community type fish as it is with something like large cichlids.

There should Defo be rules to fish purchase IMO
Betta kits should not be sold! Just picked up my daughters malebetta and was asked if I wanted a Betta kit no bigger then those stupid littlebowls, I snorted back I have a 5 gallon tank for that little keeper in the bag and walked out
I agree. There are some kits that are less than half a gallon. Not suitable. Bettas need at least 1.5 gallons. I can't believe people actually buy those. It's like those tiny turtle islands.
I agree there hn1 but I look at it as when a store puts a Betta in a round bowl and society falls to the image that that is safe for the fish does that not fall under the topic of fish that should not be sold?

Oh I agree that If shops sold fish at adult size they wouldn't be purchased. Now on the other hand Gould we not blame the distributors/suppliers also for attributing to the trend? For If not for them the stores would have no supply. For I do agree that fish that outgrow home aquariums should be kept in their natural environment or be sold primarily via special order only that way they dont become victims of retail revenue.
