Ahh eye see now. Well I'm definitely going with reef sand for the grain size and color I went to my lrs and drooled all over the angels and tangs lol.
For me its the tangs, triggers, lionfish, and eels

It is silica sand so no, as Mebbid said, no buffering like aragonite.
And, YIKES! Sand from Daytona Beach?! Good luck with that. They still let people drive on the beach so there is no telling what is in it. Not something I would risk. Considering the amount of money in my tank there is no way I would cheap out on sand like that. The beach I live on is a federal reserve, nothing for miles and miles and miles, and I still would not risk it.
wait, it's silica sand? i'm not questioning your expertise but i always thought beach sand is either crushed coral or rocks

speaking of lionfish. if you catch them in FL coast it's yours FREE!!!

Alright Guys!

Ill start my build in the fowlr section then, I won't be going reef for at least 8mo
I went reef right off the bat with some hardy mushrooms and I had no problems. Just keep your water parms up
What kind of corals?
What kind of corals?
Hardy ones are best, like the comment above suggested. I started with green mushrooms
