Hmmm,

Old nitrate test - 5 (maybe 10)ppm.
New nitrate test - 0ppm.

(Won't throw out old test just yet).

Phosphate - 0.5ppm.

I know, it's really open (seems very bare). Hoping to keep this one more open for fish to swim around in and get better flow.

I have found that when things are tight that they don't grow as well.

I got several crypts from Fresh all the same size some months back.

The one with the most open space is now 3x bigger than the ones still in tighter space.

I bet things fill in more all by themselves quickly.

Just need 6 months. :) Still going to try for a more simple planted tank (if such a thing is possible!).

I'll have 4 aponogetons at back and they should all get 3ft leaves coming over the central ornament. The sides will be harder as aiming for a foot to a foot and a half high plants. The left side has stem plants though so that will help. But all the creeping plants like val are out. Shame as that looked excellent against red stem plants and got to a perfect height but they were all taking over the tank.

I just saw this plant scape featuring Bacopa 'Compact" monnieri.

The display pic has numerous pics from beginning to full growth, visible by clicking the arrow or circles beneath it.

The plant is in the mid foreground before the mound /also a diagram with plant ID is listed too. See the plants by scrolling down further.

Anyhow just thought of your tank when I saw it. I guess because of the Bacopa being a nice looking plant towards the front, though it would need some trimming periodically.

It says with higher light it tends to creep. If you click on the plant at the bottom of the page it will give you more info about the plant. Cool tool. Haha I never knew it did that!

When I see it in lakes and ponds here its often in the shallows growing carpet like. Thick matts of it. Makes side roots like rotala.

Many thanks I'll check these out. Tank I think will take a few weeks to settle. Seeing more plants to fix and tank still clearing.

Got a shot from left side of tank (CO2 reactor inlet pretty blocked again after a day):

And one from right side of tank.

And if anyone knows what this stem plant is with the "spiky, fern" leaves (impulse buy)? About 6 inches high.

Mermaid weed love that plant

Parrotfeather (Myriophyllum aquaticum) Here is a non native invasive species ;) Which means it MIGHT grow in my tanks, lol. Just don't let it so out in the trash Really beautiful plant and such a different texture in leaves.

Always wanted mermaid weed. I think its really neat id like to group it with wisteria

One of the members here has a tiger lily and that has looked very tempting if I ever see it in the shops. Thanks for the plant replies - that was a new one I'd never seen but got suggested after we went through the tank setup. He said it would get a red tinge close to lights but happy with the green. Will keep it :)

Starting to up the ferts a little. I thought nitrates would jump up drastically but so far so good.

Shifted one of the buce again and think I have a good spot for a bit.

In other news the Java Fern in betta tank seems to have settled nicely with the reduced lights (that was the taped off leds). Plastic plants are looking blah and I think I'll ditch them (tried growing them, they don't like my tank).
