Hello We just moved our betta from one tank to the other and he seems to be a little stressed. He is suffering from stringy/torn fins and isn't really moving alot. I was going to use melafix in the tank but wasn't sure if it would hurt the bristlenose pleco in there. Any ideas???

Is it wrong to pet your fish? Can this hurt/damage them in anyway? Only reason I ask is because in one of our 10gals, we can almost hold our betta at feeding time and just thought that it may be wrong!

Other than daily water changes are there any other safe ways to lower Nitrites? I've seen Nitrite lowering chemicals but I don't really trust any chemicals
