+1 Andy! I have seen bettas in the wild and this is all correct....they are a "Rice Paddy" fish and their whole lives are based on two seasons, Dry and Monsoon. They don't seem to care for lakes and deep water and spend lives in rice paddy drainage areas...slowly flowing, stagnant, dirty...

It's over a week now and the little ones now look like fish and not bugs..They are now eating Micro worms as well as infusoria. Looks to be anywhere from 20-40 fry, but hard to count as they scatter in the light

I got swimmers! And quite a few...gotta pull pappa out soon... air is going an the little guys are flitting all over...forgot how small they are, from my last breed in the 70's, or my eyes have gotten that bad since then :fish2:

Count me in as well I guess....I can always use sand....

If I get the bigger tank I very well might. I used to breed Angels long ago, in my 55. Well actually they bred themselves, I hadn't planned on it!

Welcome Chard! WE would welcome any wisdom you have to offer as some here are trying their hand at betta breeding, and some are trying it again after a long hiatus:whistle: Your purples are just stunning fish! And I am retty sure you will see your Greens posted in the "Show your bettas"...

I just got mine a week ago, They are awesome! I put about a thumb size piece with every betta and a whole leaf in my breeder. I can live with the tea colored water and all my boys like it.

I have had good luck with Petco babies Not a bad thing for 1.99 and getting to watch em grow. So far we got 2 HM male and female, one CT female, and a VT female. Here's some pics... 1st is Eleanor HM marbled female. The camera doesn't do her colors justice. she is a Petco baby 2nd is Eleanor...

Nice Babies! Love em all! I got two that I got from you in breed right now....Decided the Giant boy, and the Marbled girl for this one....His sister was not ready (And I could NOT net her, she was being onery!) The marbled girl is REAL eggy and striped so I chose her for this one.

I am sorry to hear that....I lost Rommel today as well...I will miss him. What ever it was took him fast as he did not miss morning or evening feeding....:( But tonight I got my breeder up and going and Cheech and Rita are in it right now. Cheech is busy showing off and Rita is following him...

I have the stuff as well but my Angelfish seem to LOVE eating it! They control it quite well along with some treatments

Its been a long time since a ran a UG filter so Not sure I can answer that...but I would say good. Your betta might not like it though, their natural homes have no current to speak, so he might not like it. Yes my cories do all the same....freak out and swim in the current, hit the top for air...

Some tetras are a bit nippy , but I think he may do ok there...Long as the filter dont shove him around. Most my bettas don't like being in the big tanks cuz the filters shove them around...I only have one in a community cuz he doesn't mind it at all and he dont even act like he has tank...
