20 gallon tall set up for my buddy

New set up for my buddies first tank, thinking maybe some bala sharks and boesemini rainbows

bala sharks get too big for a 20g from what I've heard but I could be confusing them with red tails. I think rainbows are pretty but I don't know anything about them.
I would stock the tank with

7 rummy nose tetras
5 pygmy cories
1 ram cichlid OR male betta (some are really really pretty just go on aquabid.com and have a look)
