With the pair of GBR'S you could do cardinal tetras and jumbo neons. I have albino jumbo neons and my one ram chills with them lol but he chases the lamp eyes away
Good pickup! They'll look really nice and have good coloration
Does anyone have any inverts that they recommend?
I already acclimated them. The QT is ten gallons. I do not want to quarantine them for a month because i'm too impatient. The tanks are already cycled... they were heavily stocked and have been converting 4 ppm of ammonia in less than 24 hours. So IMO I don't need to stock very slowly. I am only adding one school or species at a time, but I am still not waiting very long... I am going to do my regular weekly 50% WC. I dosed ammonia in the 20 g and tested twice a day. After two tests it was gone. For schoolers, I would add any kind of non-aggressive tetra/rasbora under 1.5"
such as neons, green neons(more delicate), harlequin rasboras/rummynose tetras/etc.
I personally love the contrast between neons and GBRs as they both have a bit of blue and harlequin rasboras and GBRs as the red stands out against the blue
and for acclimation, etc. make sure u have a good source, they are known to stop eating after purchasing after a few weeks(happened to me 3X),
ACCLIMATION
drip is best
usually 1 drop per second works best OR SLOWER
For quarantine, i'd do at least a month, what size tank is ur QT?
and i'd wait at least a few weeks before starting to add any other fish
i'd keep doing 50% WCs, not 100%s.......bc then ur removing all the BB remaining
good luck
amano shrimp are perfect
and for RCS, they should be fine AS LONG as you add them first OR get 10-15 of them to start off.............as only babies will get eaten, and GBRs can't eat that many daily
ghost shrimp would work too, as they are $0.13 each, not expensive to replace iether
amanos wouldn't breed as they need brackish to breed
i'd just get 6-12 amanos OR 10-15 RCS?

I am getting my GBR pair later today. Do you think I could have another pair of dwarf cichlids in there also?
What other fish should I get? I need some bottom dwellers.
aqua_chem said:No more dwarf cichlids. GBR's can get pretty territorial when breeding, and can declare the entire tank their turf.
As far as bottom fish go, loaches and kuhlis are pretty cool critters. Your tank is about borderline for a pleco.
