I have to admit, LOL, when I first used ammonia I put almost a cup into my 29g!! After a few water changes it got down to 4ppm. It didn't hurt my rock or my cycle. Just test and see where it's at.

Ok so my Ammo is just a bit above 4ppm and Nitrite is realllly high....your thoughts?

If your nitrites are off the charts I would suggest a water change so you can read them.

Lol i was curious about the "wish" ya it seems to be going good. The ammo isnt a bright blue anymore..lol. gonna give it another day and do a water change. Would like to get the ammo at 4 ppm so i can do an accurate cycle.

Skimmer question...where do i want the foam to rise up to? Right to the edge of the tube or do i want it to spill over?

You want the foam to "slowly" hit the top of the skimmer tube til it just about bubbles over/up. That should give you a decent skim.

yes. you need to keep feeding your cycle. ammo up to 4ppm.

other wise your ammo eating bacteria will starve and you will have to start all over again.

yep you will notice your ammo being used up faster and faster. your nitrites will slowly start falling by the time you can turn 4ppm ammo to nitrates in 12hours? you will be cycled. but you do have to keep feeding your tank ammo until you add your fish then you can stop.
