One of my tanks is a 29g. It houses a male Betta and 3 corys (the others are in the qt tank) and some very large Mystery Snails and a couple ghost shrimp. My Betta has not show any aggression towards the snails, fish or the shrimp. After I establish a group of about 6 corys what else could I add? I am an avid reader of the threads on here and know there are differing opinions on whether to house Bettas alone or not. I just want some opinons and ideas as my Betta seems fairly docile. I have a planted sand bottom tank with mopani. I am considering redoing the tank with eco-complete before I add the fish from the qt but we will see.

:thanks:

I have a 10 g. with a male betta, 4 panda corys, 2 redfin otos, and an orange rabbit snail. The betta has not bothered any either. As long as you have no long finned, fancy colors, fast moving fish, I would think you would be okay. Unless, you have an aggressive betta, which sounds like you don't! Still go with the rule, inches vs fish. I hear that danios are great and then there are some rasboras that are good. Hope this helps!!

I have a planted 10g with a veiltail male and 6 ember tetras and a bunch of ghosties and a couple snails. They are doing great. The betta seems to ignore the other inhabitants.
I also have a 29g with a male king betta and about 6 females. And 7 gold pristella tetras, about 7 guppies and 2 endlers, and a bunch of shrimp/snails. This is my fave setup because they all live relatively peaceful. The I have had no problems with any fin nipping (other than between the female bettas). I did however have 7 black skirts in here a couple months ago, but had to rehome them because they were actually nipping my bettas. They were kinda bullies.

I keep my betta with a school of chilli rasboras he sometimes plus with them but generally just ignores them!

Pics of that please?

Do your Bettas breed then being housed together?I have a female but she is rather aggressive.

In my 29, no. However, I did put one of the agressive females from the 29 into the 10 and that male did make a bubble nest and there was mating. An awesome sight btw (youtube it if you haven't seen it). In my gf's 10 gallon, her male and female live peacefully and regularly have bubble nests going.

I can try to get closer up pictures after work tomorrow.
