algae keeps overtaking the plants in my tank. Any suggestions other than just rubbing it off the leaves. That didn't seem to work so well. :(

Do you have a picture of the algae? What type of lights do you have and how long are they running in your tank? For a temporary solution, excel will help keep it at bay while you find the true source of your algae. Also, what type of ants are being affected?

It looks brown on my plants. I will get a pic later. I have Anubius, hornwort, and some waxy plant that it has pretty much killed. I have 2 crappy fixtures on top of my tank (56 gallon column). The tank is 2 feet tall. One is a 40 watt perfecto and the other has two of those curly bulbs. They are pretty old (50 watt). Lights on from 12-3 and again from 6-10. Also, I have been using flourish after weekly pwc.
