Those are platies, they don't always 'school' per say. Depends on the fish and the gender ratio you have

As far as I can tell, all the ones in question are female and the three other ones are males. Will they crossbreed?

All platies can interbreed. Make sure you have more females than makes or the girls with get harassed to death

I can't tell for sure but the single fish pic looks more like a Molly and if so, it can interbreed with a Guppy making what's known as a "Muppy". The elongated body shape leads me to think more Molly than Platy. If you look at the fish in question here at post #3: http://www.aquariumadvice.com/forums/f23/what-is-this-344295.html#post3321473

You will notice the fish is thicker top to bottom just behind the gill plate while yours are more symmetrical front to back. This is one of the differences in a "normal" molly. Balloon fish don;t count as they are misshapen fish from the start. ;)

Compare your fish to the fish in this pic. Tropical Fish for Freshwater Aquariums: Gold Doubloon Molly, Poecilia latipinna livebearer

Hope this helps (y)

I can try to get better pics if it helps but they look just like guppies to me.

Definitely not a guppy, I agree it's a molly.... Although it wouldn't be the first time today if I was wrong and it was a platy.

This is the best pic I can get still looks guppy to me not at all molly

My vote is molly (though I've never seen a muppy*). These appear to be rather young specimens.

I saw my first live "Muppy" at my friend's store a few weeks back and have to say, I'm not a fan of the fish. :nono: Maybe, with a lot of production in the line for coloration, I'd change my mind. ;) (y)

Someone's gotta know for sure?
