Best way to clean subtrate

Can anyone advice the best product for cleaning sand subtrate and how often.
I have a 26 gallon tank with a 306 fluval external cannister. Below is the type of nozzle on my sink.

Any of these, just waft over your sand, job done, you can use the boyu one to do your water changes in to a bucket.........and clean the sand once a week.....
