Betta flaring

How often should a betta flare? Mine only flare at a mirror once a week for a couple minuets

The leading flarologists would have you believe that anything less than 14.6 flares a week is problamatic. I would tend to disagree, I'd be so bold to say that your bettas behavior is just fine. So long as he's eating and moving regularly he's probably just ducky!

I agree. Flaring is something they do when they want to fight or if they feel threatened. My betta almost never flares now that he is used to his tank.

You won't get too much flaring from the fancy bettas. Plakats will flare all day everyday if you let them. I'm really not sure of the big deal about flaring except that it is used as an exercise encouraged by fighters.
