Hardy, long-lived (given decent care and conditions) schooling fish. They're from a somewhat cooler climate, so a heater isn't necessary if the room temp is comfortable for you. No harm in keeping them warmer, just not necessary. Fairly active, should have a bit of swimming space, and best in a fair-size group.
