I am hoping to breed my new red cherry shrimp, but I am finding a lot of conflicting adviced online. Namely, I have read that:

1) Red cherry shrimp need plants to lay their eggs on

2) You should use a nylon net (presumably for the eggs to fall through) to prevent the shrimp parents from eating their own eggs

3) Female red cherry shrimp carry their eggs in their egg-carrier and fan them with their swimarettes until the eggs hatch.

Can anyone tell me which one of this is actually the way red cherry shrimp procreate?

A friend of mine recently cleaned her Eheim and found over fifty red cherry shrimp thriving inside of it on the sponge media. She took them to her LFS and sold them for almost $90! I've never kept them and cannot recommend allowing them to go into your filter intake as a breeding measure, but they seem pretty darn resilient :)
