I have seen many posts that say to remove the carbon when you medicate a tank. Could somebody please explain to me why that is so? Thanks.

when you medicate the tank the carbon will absorbe it.. even on the packages it tells you to do that or else no eefect will be had

Also medications can break the bonds that carbon has with other nasty stuff. So medication will get adsorbed and potentially release harmful things. Best to take it out. And when you use it after the treatment make sure to always use fresh carbon.

Thanks for the replies. I went back and looked at the ick medication and it says nothing about removing the carbon. :x

Glad I found this site. Thanks again.
