Changing my stock. What else can I add to my 29G?

With 5 CPDs, H. Rasboras, and Cherry Barbs I would either add a bottom Dweller, such as a Clown/Bristlenose/Pitbull Pleco or a school of Cories. If not get a centerpiece fish. Gouramis are aggressive, not that good-looking, to me, and are pretty inactive, boring fish, especially the larger species. A Calmer Betta fish would add a great look to your tank for a centerpiece and you would have so much more variety.

Not all Bettas are murderers. LOL

Are corries strickly a schooling fish? Or would they be okay with just 2 or three of them in a small tank (16g)??
