On occasions where a complete cleaning is required, such as a change from saltwater to freshwater or after prolonged storage, the use of chlorine bleach can be very effective. A half gallon of bleach mixed with 20 gallons of water or more is great for sterilization and is perfectly safe for acrylic.

yep you just have to wash it out really well then use extra amount of prime or what ever conditioner you use. it breaks down the bleach.

There is no need to bleach if switching between fw and sw unless the tank is absolutely filthy; however, use Clorox and to break down the bleach you can purchase sts (sodium thiosulfate) crystals.
