Hello everyone, I bought second hand about 25 cichlid caves/rocks I believe they are ceramic. My question is how can I clean and remove old dried algae on these caves so I can put them in my 75 gallon Mbuna tank.

Thanks IMG_0049.jpg

Hi, i was at my LFS at the weekend and i see that interpet do sell a plastic plant and ornament cleaner. (have not personally used it so I can't say how effective it is but it's really cheap to get hold of, around £5) might be worth a try?

1 part bleach 9 parts water and soak then rinse.
You may need to scrub a little but algae and possible other issues should be destroyed.
Rinse well ,if you smell bleach it is not rinsed well enough. I soak stuff after bleaching sometimes in water with 5X prime.

Either use bleach or vinegar. But use a fresh toothbrush and scrub off the algae. Don’t forget to rinse!!
